the title is kind of misleading.
shanghai is really more international, so the sports becomes a smaller part of the life.
considering the situation of cba, the current status of cbl is understandable

I’m not the biggest baseball fan but if China has a good baseball player that goes to the USA, well, it will be like Yao Ming.
Speaking of Yao Ming, I just watched a game. His teammates don’t pass the ball to him. Maybe because they called him chopsticks.

Hi - Looking for Dan Washburn. I read this recent article about Chinese Baseball with great interest.
My son Greg (age 21 ) is a Senior at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst MA. and double majoring in Chinese language / Psychology.
This summer and fall he plans to be in both Beijing and Hangzhou studying advanced Chinese language skills.
He is also very interested in Baseball and has played since he was a little boy through high school varsity level.
He was hoping to make a contact with the Chinese National Team working towards the 2008 Olympics. I understand that Jim Lefebvre and Bruce Hurst were / are involved as also mentioned in your article.
I would greatly appreciate any contact information that you may be able to offer as far as Coach Lefebvre in China or the National Team in general.
Greg will be very busy while in China during the summer and fall with the demanding schedule of both language schools he is attending. One is at Tsinghua University ( IUP School ) and the other in Hangzhou / affiliated with Middlebury University.
There is some free time however and a gap between the two schools that may be a good time for him to try and meet some of the people involved with the National Team if possible.
I would appreciate any information that you could pass along !
Best Regards,
Steve Friedman
